What you can expect

Based on your background and preferences, you’ll join one of our business units to work on a project in key areas such as Business development, Software Engineering or AI development. From day one, you’ll be an essential member of your assigned team, contributing to strategically important projects to drive our company forward. You'll gain an inside look at how advanced technology solves real business problems and creates significant value for society.

When you apply, we ask you to choose the area you prefer to work in. Here’s a brief overview.

Business Development. You have a strong passion for the intersection of business and technology. Analysing a complex dataset, exploring a new market, or rethinking how a product reaches its customers: you're the kind of person who rolls up their sleeves and dives in.

You're comfortable working with data, love a good challenge, and know how to bring people along with you. Communicating across teams comes naturally, and you're always looking for smarter ways to do things.

Software Engineering. You'll work closely with our team on features that actually matter for mission-critical products. Depending on the project and your interests, you’ll gain hands-on experience in backend and/or frontend development, cloud technology, UX and product development, supercharged by agentic development.

You'll also work across different teams and disciplines, giving you valuable insights into how technology functions in practice and how what you've learned from Computer Science translates into practical, impactful solutions.

AI Development. Your technical responsibilities will center on the development of our AI products, where you'll contribute to algorithms, machine learning techniques, and innovative solutions. You’ll design prototypes and proof-of-concepts for real-world applications, such as anomaly detection in payroll and agentic AI. You're motivated by technological innovation and seeing it translate into real commercial impact.

Who we’re looking for

If you’re a student in the third or fourth year of your studies and are ready to gain real-world experience at one of Europe’s largest software companies, we want to meet you! Perhaps you have an undiscovered developer inside you and are motivated by programming and finding new solutions. Or maybe you have ambitions to work strategically with technology and lead future technology projects. You are studying IT, computer science, communication technology, informatics, or industrial economics or economics.

Either way, you should be ready to:

• Challenge the status quo

• Use critical thinking skills to solve complex problems

• Be a self-starter who also works well in a team

• Demonstrate great written and verbal communication (in both Swedishh and English)

Internship details

The internship is paid and runs over 8 weeks from the middle of June until the first week of August. You’ll have two weeks off in July for a holiday break.

During your internship, you’ll work on real projects, so the goal is for us to continue your work after the summer is over. You’ll work in international teams and be given a high level of responsibility while being supported by experienced colleagues. We’ll do our best to put you on a project that aligns with your competence and interests.

Application process

Instead of a traditional cover letter, we want to know: what do you hope to gain from a Summer Internship at Visma, and an example of how you utilise AI. Share your thoughts in a paragraph or two, approximately 100-150 words. Don't forget to upload your CV and higher education grade reports; screenshots of grades are okay if official reports aren't available.

We'll review applications on an ongoing basis, and you may be asked to complete an ability- and personality assessment as part of your application. If we believe we're a great match, you'll be invited to a digital interview. For candidates progressing to the next stage, the final interview will also be digital and include a case assignment.
